Creating Homemade Ice Cream for Dogs: Tasty Recipes
Even dogs enjoy a bit of ice cream in the summer! Human ice cream is usually too sweet for our four-legged friends. You can easily make your own dog ice-cream. As a base you can use natural yogurt, cottage cheese, or quark. You can also add any other ingredients your dog enjoys.
To ensure that the ice cream is properly proportioned, it should be made in small containers such as yogurt cups or ice-cube trays. The four-legged friend will not tolerate too much ice cream at one time. This can cause diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pains. Small, slightly thawed servings are fine and a nice change in the heat of summer. Tip: Use a small bone to handle your dog or freeze some treats. Your dog will be doubly pleased.
Fruit ice cream for dogs
Dogs love bananas, strawberries, apples, pear or pears just as much as people do. Puree the fruit if you wish to make your own ice cream. Mix it with cottage cheese, low-fat yogurt or cottage cheese. Then, place the mixture in small containers, and freeze overnight.
You can choose the ratio of fruits to be used, depending on your pet’s taste. You won’t make a mistake if you use ingredients that don’t contain any added salt or sugar. The ice cream needs to thaw out a bit before you serve it to Bello and Waldi.
Cold liverwurst for your four-legged friend
Liverwurst Ice cream! This recipe may only be enjoyed by dogs, not their two-legged companions. Mix a non-sweetened, unsalted dairy product and liverwurst together. Freeze the mixture in small portions. You can enhance liverwurst ice-cream with vegetables, broth or dog biscuits.
Peanut butter ice cream for dogs
Dog ice cream can also be made with peanut butter. It should be unsalted, and without sugar. The ice cream is also delicious when frozen and mixed with yogurt, mashed bananas, and other ingredients. But leave some for your dog!
Animal ice cream with vegetables and fish
You can make dog ice-cream with fish as well as meat and sausage. There should be no more than two bones. The fish in the can should not have any oil or brine. The fish is chopped and enriched with vegetables, if needed, before being mixed with cottage or yogurt cheese.
